Omer Faruk Tekbilek, one of the finest Middle Eastern
musicians living in the U.S. brings together an ensemble
that brilliantly interprets the Sufi, folk, and
contemporary music of the Middle East. Known primarily
for his work on the ney (reed flute), Tekbilek is also a
master of the double reed zurna, and the baglama.. He has
worked with Simon Shaheen, Ofra Haza, Don Cherry, and
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. His ensemble features Joe
Zeytoonian (ud), Melik Yirmibir (bass), Frances Kramer
(keyboard and guitar), Seydo Salifoscz (darbuka), and
Randy Crafton (percussion).
