Pianist Ayşegül Durakoğlu has performed as a soloist and a chamber musician throughout the USA, Russia, and her native country Turkey. She was featured as soloist in the International Istanbul Music Festival with James Galway, and in the Contemporary Music Festival in Nizhninovgorod, Russia. She has appeared as soloist with major orchestras in Turkey and has been featured in radio and television programs.
Ms. Durakoğlu began her musical life at an early age in Istanbul Conservatory. She holds a Master of Music degree from the Julliard School and a Ph.D. from New York University. Her teachers included Gregory Haimovsky, Gyorgy Sandor, and Adele Marcus. As a member of the NYU Chamber Music Society, she premiered numerous works at the Merkin Concert Hall and was awarded the NYU Chamber Music Society Special Award in 1992. She has presented lecture-recitals on Debussy's piano music and on Turkish composers. She has participated in the International College Music Society Symposium in Berlin.
Ms. Durakoğlu is currently a member and director of the Chamber Music Society, Musica Mundana, she recently founded in New Jersey.
